Members of the HAJP Board of Commissioners

The Housing Authority of Jefferson Parish is served by a voluntary Board of Commissioners.  Each member of the Board gives her or his time to establish policy for the HAJP and oversee its operations.  Their service to this agency ensures that families the resources of the HAJP are used effectively to meet the housing and supportive service needs of qualifying families in Jefferson Parish.  Our Commissioners are:

 

 

 

Chairman – Joseph Fennidy, Sr.

Mr. Fennidy joined the Board of Commissioners in 2012. Before he retired from 48 years public service to the citizens of Jefferson Parish, he served for 33 years with the Jefferson Parish School System and 15 years with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.  Mr. Fennidy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Southern University with a minor in General Science.  He also received a Master’s degree from Southern University in Supervision and Administration of Secondary and Elementary Schools.  

 

Vice–Chairman – Jim Lawson

Jim Lawson became a Commissioner with the Housing Authority in 2014.  Immediately prior to joining the Housing Authority, Mr. Lawson served on the Board of the Jefferson Parish Housing Finance Authority.  He is also a former member of the Jefferson Parish Council.

 

Commissioner – Lynn C. Giordano

Lynn Giordano joined the Board of Commissioners in 2012 and has served as Chairperson since 2013.  Prior to serving with the Housing Authority, Ms. Giordano served as a member of the Jefferson Parish Planning Advisory Board.

 

Commissioner – Nancy Pearson

Nancy L. Pearson was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in 2014 by Councilwoman Cynthia Lee-Sheng. Nancy is a graduate of The New Orleans Public School System and Loyola University New Orleans. She served with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for 34+ years and retired in 2009 with the rank of Colonel. 

 

Commissioner – Brian Davis

Brian Davis began his second appointment as a member of our Board of Commissioners in 2015.  Mr. Davis is an accountant in his own firm.

 

Commissioner – Yvonne Minor

Yvonne Minor was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in June, 2015. Ms. Minor is the owner of a local business and has long been involved in civic affairs in Jefferson Parish.

 

Tenant Commissioner – Vina Boudin

Vina Boudion is a long-term resident of the Acre Road Public Housing Development. She presently serves as Vice-President of the Marrero Tenants Organization (MTO). She was first appointed to the Board of Commissioners in June, 2013 and was most recently re-appointed to the Board by the MTO in July, 2015.

 

Commissioner – Hank Berchak

Hank Berchak joined the HAJP Board in September, 2015. He is a resident of the Jefferson Parish community of Terrytown and is an active member and Past President of the Terrytown Civic Association. Mr. Berchak retired from the Armed Forces after more than 20 years of service. Hank is a Realtor and the owner of Berchak Real Estate in Terrytown.

 

Meeting Schedule

Meetings of the HAJP Board of Commissioners

Regular Meetings of the HAJP Board of Commissioners are generally held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 P.M.   All regular meetings and any special meetings of the Board are open to the public.  The locations of the regular meetings alternate between the:

 

·         HAJP’s Westbank Community Center located at 1718 Betty Street, Marrero, LA 70072

·         Jefferson Parish Westbank Regional Library (Jefferson Room), located at 4747 West Napoleon Ave., Metairie, LA 70001
